The Umbrella Academy Season 3 is an intriguing mystery. That’s all it is, at least for me. I don’t know why I care so much about the ending of a TV show, especially a drama about superheroes, but I do. The end of season three of “The Umbrella Academy” is no different from the rest of it. It leaves us with question marks, wondering what will happen next on our favorite heroes’ journey to save the day and save… their asses? Will they be able to save themselves? Thankfully, Netflix created an Umbrella Academy season three trailer that answers every last one of our questions and more – even if it does leave you feeling like your expectations weren’t high to begin with.

— should you watch it? Netflix has been pushing television production services to produce original content in order to increase their presence in the content space. For creators looking to get their products into people’s living rooms faster than ever before, this can be considered a welcome change of pace from traditional broadcast networks who have long viewed original programming as a threat to their extremely lucrative Tuesday night time slot. With “The Umbrella Academy” and its spin-off series “The Dark Hand,” Netflix has proven that there is indeed demand for dramatic genre television as well as live-action fantasy shows with a supernatural bent. This season has also not been without its fair share of controversy.

Watch The Umbrella Academy Season 3

Longtime fans of the “Umbrella” comic book series will appreciate the character and story additions that the show has been adding to the mix. And though the third season of “The Umbrella Academy” is largely the same as the second, it does include several new and interesting wrinkles. For example: the “Dark Hand” – a secret government agency that has been monitoring the heroes for the past couple of seasons – makes a return, but in a much more sinister form this time around. We also get to meet the mysterious, strong-willed Lady, and she’s as interesting as she is batshit crazy. With all of this newness and freshness, it’s really easy to forget how much the show is based on a comic book series. We should also note that the first two seasons, while critically acclaimed and incredibly popular, were not the box-office juggernauts that many had hoped they would be.

Now, those same folks who were hesitant about the third season of the show due to the daunting task of marketing it will be two-folding in joy because this season marks the return of Matt and Joseph’s “Road to Survival” super-special. This hour-long extra features behind-the-scenes looks at the making of the series as well as interviews with the cast and crew. The special, which Netflix initially planned to air simultaneously with the season three premiere, was eventually yanked from the schedule due to the “The Umbrella Academy” Season 3 premiere being preempted. Regardless, the “Road to Survival” special should still be of interest to fans of the show given the nostalgia it brings and the fact that it’s being made as part of the promotion for the new season.
