Haaland is Chelsea’s prime target this summer as Roman Abramovich looks to put the Blues back at the top of European football but the club have been urged to think twice before committing
Chelsea has been warned signing Erling Haaland could be a “disaster” if they fail to get the “chemistry” right behind the scenes.
The Blues are among the sides that targeted Borussia Dortmund’s frontman and are hopeful of beating their rivals to the punch by launching a bid this summer, a year before Haaland’s £65million release clause comes into play.
While Roman Abramovich bankrolled a £200m spending spree last summer, Thomas Tuchel will expect to be backed in the upcoming window.
But former Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf has urged Tuchel to be cautious about adding Haaland to his ranks while he is yet to find the perfect formula from the stars already at his disposal.
“Haaland is a beast. Of course, it would be a plus for Chelsea,” Leboeuf told Sky Sports News. “But now you have to think financially and economically, and you also have to also think and make sure your dressing room is going to be following the coach.
If you put Haaland (in the team) you lose [Olivier] Giroud, but you might lose [Kai] Havertz, you might lose Werner as well. What about [Christian] Pulisic? Where are you going to play [Hakim] Ziyech?
